Children might find memorization of the Quran difficult and boring; since they need to memorize all those big words by heart, which takes a long time and a lot of effort. This might cause them to get frustrated, and tempted to stop studying the Quran.

Because for them what they memorize has no understandable order or system that makes all that information steady in their memory, it’s all easy to forget; so, even after doing some successful memorization, they will be caught up in an endless cycle of revision and memorization.

Solution:

You can overcome this difficulty by assigning them small portions of the Quran; no more than a few verses, and let them take their time in memorizing and digesting the words and sounds.

Explaining every verse they study is also an effective tactic to help them memorize the Quran; as through understanding what they are reciting and memorizing, the succession of the verses will make sense, and it will all make sense to them.

7- Simplifying Islamic Lessons for Children: Strategies for Effective Teaching and Learning:

Islamic lessons can be difficult for young children, especially with all its details and embedded matters. For example, to teach a little child how to pray properly, and how each movement and each position has to be in a certain way can be tricky to follow up to for young kids.

It’s completely understandable and acceptable that they find this difficult to understand and digest, and we can never blame them for finding a lesson difficult to study.

Solution

To help them overcome this difficulty, simplify everything for them. First, choose lessons that are suitable for their age, and second, make sure to simplify all the details; so that they have time to understand and study without pressure or rush.

For example, start teaching them how to pray by teaching them the prayer movements vaguely, and make use of their excitement to imitate your every movement.

Secondly, teach them the Surahs of the Quran they will need while praying. Then, start to practice the movements with them more accurately. Finally, put everything together; so, they can pray.
